DAYS/10 NIGHTS-GASA
HOT SPRING TREK
This trek leads you to the hot spring at Gasa. The Bhutaneses believe
that this hot spring has some medicinal values and in some cases cure
people of their illnesses. In this package tour you will not only
trek to the hot spring, but will also have the opportunity of visiting
Punakha,Thimphu and the Paro valleys.The entire trek is through beautiful
forests of sub-tropical trees in the beginning and alpine vegetation
towards the end of the trek. A lot of orchid species can be seen and
in the winter months it is common to see the National Animal-Takin
grazing in the bushes.
Day 01: Arrive Paro and Paro
Sightseeing
Upon arrival at the Paro International Airport, you will be recieved
by the representative of Access Bhutan tours and treks (Bhutan
tour operator)who will then escort you to your hotel.
After lunch, you will be taken to the National Museum, Paro Rinpung
Dzong and walk accross the Nyemi Zam to your car. Evening at leisure,
if you desire, a visit to a farm house can be arranged.
Day 02: Paro - Sightseeing -acclimatization
This is the acclimatization day for you. You will begin an early
morning hike to the Taktshang monastery. In this exercise, you will
be gaining roughly 800 meters in less than three hours. Lunch will
be served in the cafteria below the monastery. Evening at leisure.
Day 03: Paro - Thimphu
Travel to the Capital of Bhutan will take about 1 1/2 hour . On
the way, visit Simtokha Dzong the oldest fortress in Bhutan built
in the 17th century by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the unifier of
Bhutan.After Lunch, visit Tashichho Dzong, fortress of the glorious
religion.Then drive to Sangay Gang viewpoint to have a full view
of Thimphu valley. On the way see National animal -Taken- kept in
captivity.Evening at leisure. Your guide can take you to a few souvenir
shops if you desire.
Day 04: Thimphu - Punakha -Damji
Drive to Punakha by crossing the Dochula Pass (3050m). If you have
a clear sky, the view of the Himalayan Mountain ranges is spectacular
and you can even see the Gasa Dzong as a white dot in the horizon.Further
down you will drive through specticular villages of Toebisa and
Metsena. Then through Punakha valley.From Tashithang, you will be
driving through an unpaved road till you reach Damji. Overnight
in Camp.
Day 05: Damji - Gasa
The trek to the hot springs from Damji is through beautiful pine
forests and village hamlets. The walk is made more enjoyable by
the calls of the wild birds and animals. As you reach the hot springs,
your trekking staff would have hot cups of tea/coffee for you. Overnight
in camp.
Day 06: Tsachu (hot spring) Halt
Enjoy the Gasa hot springs. Dip yourself in the hotsprings and renew
yourself. The hot springs will wash of all your stress. Overnight
in camp.
Day 07: Tsachu - Sightseeing
A hike to the Gasa town about an hour from the hot springs is worth
it's while. While in town, visit the Gasa Dzong. Overnight in Camp.
Day 08: Tsachu - Damji - Punakha
Trek down to Damji where Access Bhutan transport will meet you and
take you to Punakha, the ancient capital of Bhutan and the winter
residence of the central monastic body.
Day 09: Punakha Sightseeing -
Thimphu.
Visit the Punakha Dzong and hike to the Chimi Lhakhang. Drive back
to Thimphu.
Day 10: Thimphu - Paro
Thimphu sightseeing in the morning includes:
- The National Library
- The National Folk Heritage Museum
- The Traditional Painting school
of Arts and Crafts
- The Institute of TraditionalMedicine
- After lunch drive to Paro and
over night at hotel in Paro.
Day 11: Departure from Paro
